Prudential Plus Realty have always been and will continue to be,
committed to maintaining the accuracy, confidentiality, and security
of your personal information in regards to your Real Estate Transaction.
As part of this commitment, we have established Ten Privacy Principles
to govern our actions as they relate to the use of customer information.
We invite you to review these principles, which have been built
upon the values set by the Canadian Standards Association's Model
Code for the Protection of Personal Information and Canada's Personal
Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.
Principle 1 - Accountability - Prudential Plus
Realty is responsible for maintaining and protecting the customer
information under its control. In fulfilling this mandate, we are
required to designate an individual or individuals who is/are accountable
for that Company's compliance with the Ten Privacy Principles.
Principle 2 - What is Personal Information - Personal
information is any information about an identifiable individual.
This does not include certain information that is publicly available
such as a phone directory listing your name, address and telephone
number.
Principle 3 - Identifying Purposes and Consent
- The purposes for which customer information is collected shall
be identified before or at the time the information is collected.
Most information will be obtained directly from you, the client.
Realtors may also collect information from other sources such as
credit bureaus, banks, and government agencies, as needed. At the
time information is collected you will be told what uses will be
made of it, and your consent to that collection and use will be
obtained.
Principle 4 - Limiting Collection, Use and Disclosure
- The customer information collected must be limited to those details
necessary for the purposes identified by Prudential. Information
must be collected by fair and lawful means. Customer information
may only be used or disclosed for the purpose for which it was collected
unless the customer has otherwise consented, or when it is required
or permitted by law. Customer information may only be retained for
the period of time required to fulfill the purpose for which it
was collected.
Principle 5 - Accuracy - Customer information
must be maintained in as accurate, complete and up-to-date form
as is necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it is to be used.
Principle 6 - Safeguarding Customer Information
- Customer information must be protected by security safeguards
that are appropriate to the sensitivity level of the information.
. If a customer does not wish to be contacted by any employee
of Prudential Plus Realty after their file or transaction is closed,
then they should notify the Brokerage of same prior to said
closing or termination of contract..
Principle 7 - Openness - Prudential is required
to make information available to customers concerning the policies
and practices that apply to the management of their information.
Principle 8 - Customer Access - Upon request,
a customer shall be informed of the existence, use and disclosure
of their information, and shall be given access to it. Customers
may verify the accuracy and completeness of their information, and
may request that it be amended, if appropriate.
Principle 9 -
Use of Personal Information -Your information is used to facilitate
the real estate transaction. Effectively marketing your
house involves advertising the property in any medium, including
electronic media, newspapers, real estate publications, etc. and
disclosing property information to other salespersons and prospective
buyers. If the listing is MLS, the property information will be
given to the real estate board or boards operating the Multiple
Listing Service. This information will be distributed through the
MLS system to any persons authorized to use the service (which may
include other Realtors, appraisers, government departments and others)
and may be marketed by the board in various media, including the
internet. Property information, including sales data, is kept in
the MLS database following the completion of the transaction and
is available to users of the system for comparative market analysis
and valuation purposes. Both current and historical data is essential
to the operation of the MLS system and by placing your listing on
the MLS system, you are agreeing to allow Prudential this ongoing
use of listing and sales information on your current and future
files.
Principle 10 - Handling Customer Complaints and
Suggestions - Customers may direct any questions or enquires with
respect to the privacy principles outlined above or about our practices
by contacting the Privacy Compliance Officer at 902-883-1244. If,
after speaking with our Compliance Officer, you are still not satisfied
with any aspect relating to the Privacy Act you may contact the
Privacy Commissioner of Canada. |
